Parker's coming home, Parker's coming home, Parker's.....

coming home.... Yippee!!!  This will be the first time Landry has meet Parker, and we look forward to the day he will meet Luke (in 3-5 months!).  Parker will be here for 2 weeks, so they will have good bonding time together.

I was reading some of the very first blogs the other day - and I have to say, I am SO glad I decided to write this blog, so many things you forget, and he is growing so fast.  IF ONLY I had this when the boys were little, it would be awesome!!  For all those out there who have babies or even kids - you should start a blog - you will be so glad you did!  Enough said..... back to my original thought!  I can't believe all the things that he still does, that he did just as a wee little one.  One thing is that he still loves to play with sticks and leaves-  there is always a pile of "goodies" right off the porch. He will go gather sticks and leaves and bring them back to play - it looks like a mess out there.  We clean it all up each Saturday, so he has all week to go gather more.  He loves tossing them all around and running around with them - WHO needs TOYS!
He still loves his blankets.
He doesn't have the hiccups everyday any more, but he did just yesterday.
He can jump and leap over things like a deer - it is quite impressive.
He still barks and runs around anything moving - like you walking, the wheelbarrow, the lawnmower, etc...
He loves a BATH!  and it is a good thing because he needs one often.  Like last night at 8:50pm - I was not too happy about that one!!
He is still so clumsy walking up the stairs- he trips almost every time- doesn't bother him one bit.
He is learning, even tho he doesn't want you to know that he is!  We can ring the bell or blow a whistle and he comes running.  and He knows when "Mr DoBetter" is on his neck, and then, and only then, he knows exactly how to stay - right there where you told him to.  He also knows what a flipflop coming off my foot means too - it is embarrassing to even admit that - but when we are out in the yard and he is torturing me - yes it is torture - all I have to do is take my flipflop off and he is instantly 5 feet away from me - with crazy eyes- and he will stay that far away until I put back on my shoe, and then he runs back to me- instantly. He usually stops his bad behavior tho. I always say I am going to have a spare ff tucked in my shorts.  We are about to use "Mr. DoBetter" to correct that.

Right now as I write this, he is out in the yard with a stick with pine needles still on it - his favorite kind!  He is tossing it up and then catching it, and swinging it around so it hits his back He is having a blast!!  Got to love that dog :)

Oh- we went to the Vet on Thursday, and he weighed in at 59.5 lbs!!  He will be 7 months old tomorrow, the 20th.

Friday Nights! Aaaahhhh....

I do love Friday nights!  Especially when the weather is just right and you can sit on the porch with no bugs! That kind of night happened a few weekends ago :)  And I snapped a few pictures, playing around with the camera.  I have several blog ideas about the ole Landry I want to share, but I want the right picture that will go along with it, and can't seem to catch him when I have the camera. I know you are sitting on pin and needles awaiting the next story!! HA
For the mean time, sit back and enjoy these photos!

Happy Happy Happy

Today, as we were walking to the back of the yard and Landry was bouncing around us- yes, literally bouncing in circles around us, three words came to my mind - happy happy happy (in the voice of Phil Robertson, of course).  This is a great way to describe Landry -he is just plain happy!  He loves when we are all outside together.  He just runs, jumps, bounces along- usually going around us in circles :)  It doesn't matter if you get on to him or really upset with him - in about 2 seconds, he has brushed that off and is happy happy happy! I usually do refer to him as nuts or crazy - but someone may get the wrong impression - so happy is a better, more appropriate, descriptive word!

We went to the vet on Thursday to weigh in for his heartworm/flea med - he weighed 56.6 lbs!!! In March he weighed 36.9lbs. That's 20lbs- 10 lbs per month!!! Geez.... I really thought he had slowed up on his growing, guess I was wrong.

Riding to the vet and to trail.  He loves the bike trail! It was really hot, so we didn't go as far as last time.

Tim and Landry playing around.  Parker and Luke, dad is trying to get Landry used to the way you would pick up Pete - that way he won't go into shock when you start picking on him :)  *Right pic:  He loves to put his front paws on this stool (and the flower pot at the back steps - aka : his look out tower)

He went and got his blanket from his kennel and piled it up so he can lay on it -
right next to where Tim sits (of course!)

Love this shot.  Taken one early morning :)

Oh, he did have a first this week!  Our AC went out - par for the course, 1st time it has been hot :/ , so luckily Parker has a window unit in his room (which we keep for events such as these).  So, Tim and Landry slept upstairs one night in the cool AC.  It was Landry's first time sleeping in the bed!  (well, except the 1st night we got him and we stayed at the camp).  Tim said he wasn't so sure what Tim was trying to get him to do- Jump on the bed? What? I usually get on trouble for such things, but ok...  Tim said they slept close for along time, but then Tim got up in the middle of the night, and that threw Landry off - really doesn't take much- so Landry came and slept on his bed in the room with me for the remaining of the night.  But today when we went up to Parker's room to straighten it, Landry was like "are we getting back on the bed!!" He kept putting his paws up on the bed like he was going to sneak on- but he seemed to always be in my way of folding the blanket, so he never got to.  He will get his chance soon when Hannah comes to stay with him :)

Birthday Celebration and Kentucky Derby

We are looking forward to a fun filled weekend.  My mom turns 70!! Wow unbelievable - such an awesome lady - she doesn't seem 70 at all!  (I know she is cringing every time I mention that she is 70 :)  To celebrate, the family is coming over to the house for some bocce ball and hanging out.  Then we will place our bets and watch the Kentucky Derby (a family fav) and then dinner - Dad's frying up some of his famous fried chicken! MmmmMmm, so good.  I hope Mom has a great birthday!

This picture cracks me up so much!
I felt like it was fitting, being that Landry looks like
a sleaze bag racehorse gambler!!! with a cigar!!
Hahahaha!!!
Thanks to Hannah for capturing this many weeks ago :)

A Little Comparison

2 months
3 months

4 months

5 months
BOY - this post has not been an easy one to put out!  I have had trouble with the internet, uploading pictures, and trying to get pictures to stay in place!!! It has taken so long I forgot what I was going to say!! Only started a week ago...... So lets see-
WOW look how much he has grown in the short 5 months of his life.  He has always had an old man look about him, but he is really not looking much like a puppy now.  I can't believe how much he grew that first month we had him! Such a cutie pie :)

Landry still drags things all over the house.  He has stopped attempting to drag his bed across the bedroom, and has laid off my rug (but hasn't forgotten about it).  But he still pulls his blanket out of the kennel, still drags our clothes all over the place, and LOVES to get our socks. He hasn't torn up any thing (yet)- fingers crossed, but does like to make a mess.  His newest thing is to pull his santa blanket, his red blanket, my sitting pillow, and anything else that may be around over to Tim's chair - he works real hard getting it all over there, then spends more time getting it just right, and plops down!  and then All is right with the world, right at dad's feet!

Going back to the socks ~ he can play hours with a sock!  He throws it up, runs after it, barks, growls, rolls around with it.  It is really cute, and entertains him for a good long while.  So as long as he doesn't tear it up, we allow it to happen.  Maybe we shouldn't, but.....we do :)  This dog has a lot of energy- he is nuts! Need to burn it off some way.
He uses his back legs more than any dog I have ever seen. It may be real common, but new to us.  He will just spin himself around in circles, sometimes laying on his back, sometimes on his side, somethings with a ball or toy in his front paws. He pushes off the sofa most of the time.  The other day he was laying along the side of sofa, he started at one end, and on his back scooted all the way to the other end of the sofa using his back legs and the sofa, he was trying to get the ball that was behind his head! Pete would have just gotten up and picked up the ball, but for Landry it is just more fun to do it upside down!

This is what he is doing right now as I write this!

He also picks on me way more than Tim!  (maybe because he can get by with it) When I am walking outside, he is circling around me barking, growling, and jumping all the way.  Oh just for the pure fun of it!!  He has gotten better about not wrapping his paws around my legs, or attempting to bite me - all in play, of course! But at times I can not even walk!! Can became a bit aggravating.  THEN comes clearing out the pond dam that we have been working on for 2 weeks now.  I get 2 big ole arm fulls of limbs and vines, and Landry comes up and grabs hold of one, and pulls it with all his might the opposite direction!!  So not fun!  I have to fight that he doesn't make me drop it all, and pull him along.  I feel like a little girl who's brother won't stop picking on her - and she wants to yell out "Daddy make him stop!!"  Now, he does do this to Tim - some, just a little bit, when I am busy doing something else - but Tim is bigger and stronger, so he doesn't struggle like I do (violins please).  But I laugh at him more than I get aggravated, so that's a good thing :)
