This is our 2nd week picture. This hasn't proven any easier one week later! I think he has grown 1 inch since last week! This is so sad for me, he just won't stay small near long enough!!! I have tried to measure his height (from floor to back while standing), he does NOT like the yardstick (at ALL), so I have to take the measurements really fast, while he is moving away from me! Last week it looked like 12 in, and this week 13. uggghhh. Stay small longer - please!
Week summary:
* He spent more time outside - he loves the nice weather. He is getting where he will stay outside by himself (at least for a little while)
* He is much more active! He loves running and trying to trip you up.....and he is good at it!
* He is beginning to go to the door and let you know he needs to go out (this is awesome- he's so smart)
* He is now running from you when it is NOT appropriate!!! This needs to be addressed! (It really DRIVES ME CRAZY)
* He loves to sleep with his head on your leg (so sweet). It doesn't look comfortable at all but that is where he prefers to be.
* We still spend 95% of our time on the floor with him.
* He heard gun fire and totally freaked out- he did not understand why I was not freaking out with him. I tried to explain that out here in the country he will hear lots of gun fire but he was safe and it was far away. It calmed him down some, but 2 days later it made him run really fast to the house, but he did come back out to play again.
* He met his granddad this week (he had been out of town). They seem to hit it off really well.
* He's getting a little more used to the birds, and I think he went after one yesterday! But loud mufflers on trucks that go by- is another story!
One of my favorite pictures. This was when he just turned 8 wks old. He loves to play in these daylilies - I hope they survive!
His new favorite play area - the ivy!! Of course now it looks all flat, so I'm trying to keep him out before he kills it all. But he has had a blast running back and forth - time and time again!
Going for a ride Saturday. I love that he is small enough to ride with me in my car - it will not last long - so sad.

Camping Out
Tim went to the camp for the weekend, so it was just Landry and me to hang out. So we decided to camp out in the living room! He LOVED it, loved the big ole comfy feathered bed comforter, loved the pillow, loved the blanket, and loved getting to sleep with me. He did great and slept all night. He wouldn't even get up at 6 to go out, so we slept until 9:00! OH YEAH!! Here's some pictures of him enjoying his new temporary bed in the living room. He's going to be sad when I clean it up (I will too, because it is so much more comfortable than sitting on the floor!)
Starting the night off!
Still enjoying it the next day- I would say he is totally comfy and without worries!

Am I seeing Brilliance? Yes, just maybe so...
One of mine and Landry favorite things to do is wake Tim up! I announce that it is time to go get daddy up, and Landry takes off to the bed. (I feel as if this is enough warning to Tim) Then I put Landry on the bed and he goes to LICKING Tim all over his face!!! We love it :) not so sure about Tim tho, but he tolerates it - for now. For several mornings now, after Tim gets up, he and Landry have a seat on Landry's future bed in the bedroom. Tim has explained to him that when he gets to be a big puppy, where he doesn't pee and poo, he can sleep on his big bed next to ours. So yesterday, I joined in this conversation, and Landry was totally not listening and just wanting to bite our hands! But last night, when I was getting ready for bed, I told Landry it was time to go night night. (Something I would say to Pete and he would truck off to bed, this was the first time telling Landry). Well when I said this, he seemed to understand and went and sat on his bed! WELL, I was so surprised at his brilliance that I went over and sat with him and explained again that when he was a big puppy (no pee, no poo, and I added no chewing) he could sleep there. Now, normally Tim stays up later than me, so he and Landry lay on the sofa/floor and watch TV. Well this night, Landry came back down stairs and went to his bed, then later came over to my side of the bed and laid down. So after a minute, Tim called for him to come back upstairs with him. A few minutes went by and down came Landry again (this is the first time he has ever done this- usually he is ready to lay down and hang out with dad). This time he marched right down stairs and straight to his bed and laid down. I believe he was telling me and Tim that he WAS a big puppy and he NEVER pees or poos in his kennel, and that he IS sleeping in his big bed! So I feel asleep upside down on the bed so I could see him and make sure he wasn't trying to pull a fast one and eat up my furniture! Me and Tim woke up and checked on him at 1:00, 2:00 and 3:00 - not until 5:00 did he whimper and Tim took him out and he went to the bathroom!!!! WOW he is awesome!and Brilliant!
Things that spook & things that make us laugh
I think the personality of boxer are a bit skittish, they say if you introduce them to new things, people, and dogs that this will help. I don't remember if this was true of Pete. The only incident that I recall was the 4th of July when he was a yr old, and we shot off fireworks in our backyard. Now Pete was one of the boys and he did what they did, so of course he was right there with the boys. Now me and Tim's mom were in chairs and good distance away. When the fireworks started, Pete ran straight for me and jumped in my lap and almost knocked my chair over because he ran so fast (he wasn't so small as this point either). It was hilarious!! Still makes me laugh!!!
OK, back to Landry. If you have noticed in his pictures, there is a green blanket with santas on it- this is his blanket now and it is the SAFE ZONE. If you tell him no, he runs to the blanket, or any thing that startles him- he runs to this spot, quickly! It is also where he sits, sleeps and plays- always.
Some things that have spooked him so far:
(along with is his reflection in the sliding glass door- that gets him often)
* a crow- Tim was with him outside and a crow crowed and Tim said he tore off to the house as fast as lightening. He is still not sure of any birds, but now he just watches them closely.
*my shadow - We were outside doing business, and my shadow was on the side of the pool- oh this totally messed with him. He didn't run away, but froze and couldn't figure it out. When I would move he would jump. I finally realized that he was not getting that it was me, so I walked so my shadow wasn't there any longer. Well that just caused confusion, because now the "person" vanished. He ran the way the shadow went and stiffed around trying to figure out where it went! Finally, after awhile of searching, and me threatening to go inside without him, he did his business.
*cranking the truck - Saturday, we were getting ready to go for a ride and I when I would go to pick him up, he would run away (playing - OH this is NEVER cute - not for a child or puppy), I finally got him following me to the truck and Tim cranked up right when we were in front - Landry bolted and was at the door in a flash!
*gust of wind - The other day there was an arctic "front" blowing in (when it dropped 20 degrees in a day), and this dog does not like the cold! He was trotting back to the house when a big gust of wind blew from behind him - he stopped- turned around like who the heck was that- then started trotting again. The gust came again and this time flipped his ear- he stopped- quickly turned and was like I'm gonna kick your butt if you do it again, and flip my ear back! After his threatening look, he bolted for his safe zone- before the buggy man could get him again!
*the bucket - I decided I should do something useful outside while Landry was enjoying playing with his sticks and leaves, so I went to get a bucket to pick up all the magnolia cones and some sticks. He was unsure of the bucket, but I began putting in the cones, and looked up to find Landry no where in site! I looked everywhere and found him inside peaking out the door! Are you kidding me- a bucket! I finally convinced him to come back out and began picking up cones again. This time he watched for a minute and decided it must be ok and continued on with his playing.
*Oh the dang glass door! Saturday, we showed him he could go out the sliding glass door. He finally went out, timid and unsure of this new way to exit the house. It was the only time we went that way. So Sunday, Tim and Landry were out and about, and Tim went to the utility room. He heard a big thump and then a loud whimper. So, he went looking to see what was wrong. He found Landry dashing to the back door, so he went to find out what he had gotten into that made him whimper and dash. He found a magnolia cone and a smudge mark on the glass door! Bless him, he finally got the nerve to use the door (and trying to be quick and SNEAKY to get that cone in the house) and WAM!

One Week Picture
Ok, here is our one week picture. I love those who do the month updates on their kids, puppies grow so fast, so we are doing one each week. After many attempts of trying to get a picture beside an object, Landry let me know that he only sits still beside the couch. So this will be our spot! We will have Simon in the pictures also (blue toy) for comparison. Simon is the smaller version of this toy. Wondering why the name Simon? Well, that's what Pete's toy was called and it stuck!
Here's some pictures of us enjoying the sunshine this Saturday:
Is he a Boxer or a Pointer? Ha! I know he's a pretty one for sure :) He loves chewing on sticks! and dried leaves...? not sure on that one.

I was laying on this pillow on the floor beside him. I got up for a minute to do something, and when I came back he had taken over it! Oh yeah, he's a smart one! We then tried to share, but after a while I some how got scooted off. Let's see here- who rules the house?
You know you treat your dog like a person when they are whining and you say "stop whining and use your words"!! Oh yes I did! Help me. I caught myself counting to 3 with Pete before :) Cracked me up.

Week One with Landry
We went to pick Landry up on Saturday! We were so excited. He was exactly what we were looking for. He was 71/2 weeks old and weighed 13lbs. He was a bit scared to leave his brother and 2 sisters, and shook most of the ride. We spent the night at the camp, and came home the next day.
Day 1, Saturday: He didn't know how to go up and down stairs, so with practice he learned quickly to go up the stairs, but not sure about going down! He stayed very close to us, and if we stopped moving he would lay on your shoes. Loved to rest his head on Dad's boots.
Day 2, Sunday: He finally attempted going down the stairs, slowly but surely - He's a fast learner! He slept all night between us and never went to the bathroom - this was a good sign!! We took him home today. He cracked us up at night when we put him in the kennel for the first time. He made noises we have not heard before! It sounded like 3 dogs were up there, but he finally fell asleep.
Day 3, Monday: Well this is his first day in the kennel while we go to work :( Thank goodness Hannah could come by and take him out at lunch and play with him! A little more of his personality is coming out. He is so sweet. We sit on the floor with him and play. He does NOT like to be alone! He did go to family dinner and met his Grandma, aunts, uncle, and cousins and cousin Mia.
Day 4, Tuesday: Things are going good. He hasn't gone to the bathroom in his kennel yet, which I find amazing! He is going to sleep much more easily now at night. Starting to really run and play more. He loves to run FAST- too funny! Today we went to visit the vet. He did good and wasn't scared. He weighed 13.2lbs.
Day 5, Wednesday: OH BOY, he has learned to go up and down the stairs quiet well and LOVES it!! He must have run back and forth 10 times at the speed of light. I swear he missed the bottom 3 steps on most trips. He was so excited! I have got to get this on video.
Day 4, Thursday: This dog cracks me up. He is very aware of every thing around him! He has seen his reflection off the sliding glass door and it freaks him out. He also watches TV, and will watch the computer. He is starting to bark more while playing.
Day 5, Friday: He is really having fun now. Loves to run like a crazy person around the living room and kitchen. I was downstairs watching him tear upstairs, ran around the kitchen table, and I promise- he bounced off the couch with all four legs, before running back down the stairs (missing the bottom 2 steps). It was the funniest thing to watch. He is a ball of energy, but then just as fast can be sound asleep!
So to sum up the week:
It has been super fun having a puppy around the house.
I wake up an hour early to spend time with him (now THATS love)
I haven't sat in a chair for an entire week - floor only.... (I hope this doesn't last forever)
I haven't gotten one productive thing done all week (but have had a blast)
Landry doesn't whine near as much as he use to (OH this is a good thing)
He is a licker! This is a trait of boxer but can be trained, he at least keeps it to your hands and neck, unless you have on shorts, then your legs get licked too! (hummmm)
He also gets SO excited when Tim comes home! It amazes me- Pete did the same dang thang(where's the love)
