A Little Comparison

BOY - this post has not been an easy one to put out!  I have had trouble with the internet, uploading pictures, and trying to get pictures to stay in place!!! It has taken so long I forgot what I was going to say!! Only started a week ago...... So lets see-
WOW look how much he has grown in the short 5 months of his life.  He has always had an old man look about him, but he is really not looking much like a puppy now.  I can't believe how much he grew that first month we had him! Such a cutie pie :)

Landry still drags things all over the house.  He has stopped attempting to drag his bed across the bedroom, and has laid off my rug (but hasn't forgotten about it).  But he still pulls his blanket out of the kennel, still drags our clothes all over the place, and LOVES to get our socks. He hasn't torn up any thing (yet)- fingers crossed, but does like to make a mess.  His newest thing is to pull his santa blanket, his red blanket, my sitting pillow, and anything else that may be around over to Tim's chair - he works real hard getting it all over there, then spends more time getting it just right, and plops down!  and then All is right with the world, right at dad's feet!

Going back to the socks ~ he can play hours with a sock!  He throws it up, runs after it, barks, growls, rolls around with it.  It is really cute, and entertains him for a good long while.  So as long as he doesn't tear it up, we allow it to happen.  Maybe we shouldn't, but.....we do :)  This dog has a lot of energy- he is nuts! Need to burn it off some way.
He uses his back legs more than any dog I have ever seen. It may be real common, but new to us.  He will just spin himself around in circles, sometimes laying on his back, sometimes on his side, somethings with a ball or toy in his front paws. He pushes off the sofa most of the time.  The other day he was laying along the side of sofa, he started at one end, and on his back scooted all the way to the other end of the sofa using his back legs and the sofa, he was trying to get the ball that was behind his head! Pete would have just gotten up and picked up the ball, but for Landry it is just more fun to do it upside down!

This is what he is doing right now as I write this!

He also picks on me way more than Tim!  (maybe because he can get by with it) When I am walking outside, he is circling around me barking, growling, and jumping all the way.  Oh just for the pure fun of it!!  He has gotten better about not wrapping his paws around my legs, or attempting to bite me - all in play, of course! But at times I can not even walk!! Can became a bit aggravating.  THEN comes clearing out the pond dam that we have been working on for 2 weeks now.  I get 2 big ole arm fulls of limbs and vines, and Landry comes up and grabs hold of one, and pulls it with all his might the opposite direction!!  So not fun!  I have to fight that he doesn't make me drop it all, and pull him along.  I feel like a little girl who's brother won't stop picking on her - and she wants to yell out "Daddy make him stop!!"  Now, he does do this to Tim - some, just a little bit, when I am busy doing something else - but Tim is bigger and stronger, so he doesn't struggle like I do (violins please).  But I laugh at him more than I get aggravated, so that's a good thing :)

What a weekend we had!

First, before we get to the subject of the blog, I have GOT to share with you my experience!  Saturday, Tim Let me help with the mowing.  Now, before I go on, one needs to know the history of me and mowing.  It was 13ish years ago, and I decided to "help out", so I started mowing the yard! Loved IT - became obsessed with it really.  I would mow about every 4-5 days- the minute I would see a blade of grass get too long! WELL, I blew up the engine - I had NO IDEA that you were suppose to check the OIL!  Oh my - who knew!  I have not been allowed on the mower since:)  So back to the present.  Tim has so much yard work to do now that Parker and Luke aren't here to help, so he has intrusted me as his "helper".  We have a zero turn bush hog (no steering wheel).  How hard can it be!  Just push forward to go, pull back for reverse, widen to stop, etc.  So, I get on, get my quick lesson, and I'm off to the races!!  Well, my arms must not move with the same strength or never had to work so closely in tune with each other- because one millimeter off and you DO NOT go straight - so I start laughing and trying correct my driving- the more I corrected the worse I got, so I am riding along going slightly left then slightly right and back again - laughing hysterically all the way!! I am crying I am laughing so hard! All I can think of is how dang picky Tim is about straight lines and here I am in the front yard going every way but straight.  I get 3/4 of the way around (the first lap) and have to stop to wipe the tears and to catch my breath - I couldn't even breathe I was laughing so hard, I also couldn't wipe this silly stupid grin off my face. (what passerby-ers must have thought - probably that I was in terrible pain). I got a handle on the situation until....I started the second lap and saw how totally crooked the line was at first -OH the hysterical laughing and tears started back up - seriously it was the most awkward thing I have ever tried to do!! You can't even scratch your nose on this thing with out it going a crazy way.  I did finally get better, drove it straight and finished the job.  I will be on it again next week, but still not ready to go around trees or such, Tim will still have to "cut in".  It was just TOO funny not to share!!

On with the dog..... I am going to attempt to put up another video of him playing in the water - he had a BLAST!!!!  Reminded me of a little toddler playing in the ocean, just on the edge, having the time of his life!  We worked in the yard from 1:00 to 8:15 Saturday. When we were done and finally let Landry in the house, the poor dog went straight to his kennel and went to sleep! Bless him.  He's got a loooong summer ahead of him:)
**Please ignore the voice on the video ~ go ahead and turn down the volume ~

This next video is of Landry showing us that he will be a big ole guard dog - one day!  He is hearing our neighbor thru the woods, then gets their dog barking too.

19 wks - New "house" and some fishin'

The time has come to get a new "house"- ya think!!  Poor fellow has been a trooper while we shopped around.  He never minded going in the kennel, he always went in when first told, almost before you could finish saying it.  I think he will miss it (I know Pete would try to get in it, and would just lay his head inside because he was too big for his body to fit).

TADA!!!   What a mansion - look at that space!  He can run laps in that thing :)  Tim did say he didn't want to go in it this morning, but when we got home he stood up and just stretched so big - still in the kennel - big improvement!  We will give him a few days to get use to it, and then we are moving it out of the kitchen- it is just a little large :)  Plus, there is a plug behind him and that makes me very nervous.
He thinks we're just fishin'....
We have only fished in our pond a handful of times.  I personally have never been fishing, in our pond that is, and we have lived here 10 yrs!  I am a little shocked to realize that.  So me and Tim decided to pull out the ole rod and reels and see what we could catch!  A lot of fun is what we caught!  (I won by catching the most - yep, bread only).  Landry had fun running in and out of the water, chasing bugs, and looking for fish.  He never tried swimming, so maybe in time he will.  This picture is of him checking out my bream. This was my 2nd and smallest one- you may can't see it. We have some really good size bream:) Maybe good for eating one day - hard to think of eating them, after working so hard on getting them to survive, grow and multiply.  Landry didn't know what to think of that fish- this is catching him between barks!  I have some video if I can figure that out.

Ok.....here is the first attempt to post a video! I have NO idea what I am doing.  If you have tips ~ please share :)
